How to Take an Effective Mental Health Day
A real mental health day isn’t just about taking time off—it’s about choosing what to pour into yourself. It’s not always about escape. It’s about re-connection. Resetting your nervous system. Bringing your energy back home.
Here’s how I like to do it—and trust me, it works:
Start with a Sweat
Hot yoga is my favorite way to wake up my body, move out stagnant energy, and clear my head. Whether it’s yoga, a walk, or dancing around the house—move something.
Go Somewhere That Makes You Breathe Differently
A spa. A sauna. A pool. The kind of place where your phone stays buried at the bottom of your bag, and time feels suspended. Let your body relax before your mind even tries to
Come Home and Cook with Intention
Dinner doesn’t have to be fancy—it just has to come from the heart. Cooking something you love (or that your spirit’s been craving) is a form of healing. Food from your spirit is good for your health, and it keeps the energy around you soft and warm.
End with Water + Words
Draw a bath. Make it your own—salts, candles, music, silence. Then crawl into bed with a book that nourishes your mind or inspires your dreams. Or better yet, plan the whole day with someone you love, and end it with connection.
Try This:
Your own version of a reset day:
Move your body first
Create stillness with water, heat, or nature
Choose pleasure over productivity
Make or eat something nourishing
Turn off your phone
End the day slowly
Mental health days don’t need to be reactive. They can be intentional, sensual, and sacred. Take the whole day, and give it to you.
